Thanksgiving Weekend

After our big thanksgiving dinner we had a weekend of family time. It was so nice having a 4-day weekend. Nancy had a ton of work to do for her classes so Ben got to spend a couple of days alone with the boys. Instead of subjecting ourselves to the crowds of angry shoppers we decided to head to the park for Black Friday. We took the boys over to Whetstone Park and Recreation Center. We had a great time playing on the playground.

That Saturday we again gave Nancy the morning off to do her school work and hopped on the bus to Goodale Park near downtown. This was a lot of fun for the boys as we only make it over to Goodale once or twice each Spring and almost never go in the Fall. We had a great time on the playground and had a snack in the trees. We were surround by the fattest squirrels ever. We soon figured out why they were so fat when one of them tried to steal our snacks off the table. We even saw an albino squirrel which made James very happy.

On Sunday Nancy joined us for a fun day at the Columbus Museum of Art. They have a great kid area and Nancy had really wanted to see a Caravaggio painting they have on display.

February & March 2011

We are finally up to 2011 in our picture backlog. We returned from a wonderful Christmas in Austin to our daily lives back in OH. We didn’t take any pictures in January so we will start our 2011 picture journey in February and March.

In February we had a short break in the winter weather and were able to venture outside for a couple of hikes on the hike and bike trail near our house. The snow melt and rain had the river flowing the highest we have ever seen it. James got to tryout his brand new tricycle with vanity license plate (thanks Grandma and Grandpa) and even Sam got to get out and stretch her legs.

Spring break was in mid March and we made our annual trip to Jacksonville, Florida to visit Aunt Vicky and Uncle Mark. James and Vicky had a nice parade (video below), we ate a ton of fresh seafood, and got to visit a historic plantation. We absolutely love visiting Jacksonville. The good company, good food, proximity to the beach, and just the chance to get away make this one of our favorite trips we take each year. The drive is almost as long as it is to Austin but we get to drive through the Smokey Mountains which is much more visually appealing than Arkansas.
